STEP is dedicated in providing the local community with more economic benefits showing that controlled hunting can sustain the local people and animal population, while at the same time protect the wildlife situated in Torghar. STEP has been operating in Torghar for more than 35 years, in those 53 years the Markhor population and the Urial population has increased significantly. The hunting season starts from late November and finishes in Late March. The auctions are held in November.

STEP has worked for years with the local people to manage hunting, protect the markhor and Afghan Urial population from threats such as poachers and themselves by providing them the financial means to conduct daily lively hood and fend off poachers, STEP also provides emergency medical funding to the locals whenever they have a medical emergency which needs finance or manpower. funds are also diverted to get trees for the locals to plant like Almonds, olive etc, so that they can make an income from the sales of the produce. There are many other such things that STEP has been doing to make the lives of the Animals and the local people prosperous. The annual financial report can be downloaded below.
